30/07/2011 - Both teams lost to their Llandeilo counterparts today - Due to a combination of holidays and injuries the 1st XI were depleted and fielded one twelve year old, one fourteen year old and a fifteen year old but they didn't let the side down at all.  With the 1st XI on 36-4 an early finish was the opinion from all the 'Foel followers.  Thankfully the senior citizens of the side came to the fore and Felinfoel were able to close their innings on 133-9.  Meirion Rees top scored with 54, Tony Lewis chipped in with 20 before the young team of Ieuan Petty 18no and Glenn Williams 3no added 15 for the 10th wicket.

25/07/2011 - The club bids farewell to one of our senior players this week as Rhys James leaves to take up a position as a pilot with Easy Jet.  Rhys was missed in 2010 as he took a year out whilst training in the States.  He made a welcome return in 2011 and went on to score his maiden century for the club in the match against Kidwelly on the 4th June.  We wish him well in his career and any free flights this way please .........!!! Bon Voyage and if you are available to play next season, let us know!!

24/7/2011 - Our hopes of promotion to Division Three seem to be over for another season as the first XI went down by 24 runs at the hands of Swansea Civil Service on Saturday.  Skipper Andrew Thomas won the toss and put the visitors in to bat.  Johnathan Evans struck early removing Nick Davies and Steve Porter with successive balls to leave the visitors 3-2.  Damian Devonald 24, Rob Holohan 61, James Slack 36, Philip Owen 30 and Evan Davies 16 led the fight back as the Civil Service innings closed on 204 all out in the 50th over.  Rhys Harries was the unexpected hero with the ball as he captured 5-34, with Johnathan Evans 2-40, Rhys James 1-31, Stuart Parmenter 1-17 and Clive Harding 1-21 the other wicket takers.

The Felinfoel reply got off to a great start thanks to run machine Rhys Harries and we were well ahead of the required run rate until the 38th over.  The loss of wickets slowed the run rate down and we were eventually all out in the 49th over for 180.  Rhys Harries top scored with 86 which took him to 502 runs for the season.  Rhys Jones chipped in with 31, Nick Jones 16 and Meirion Rees 15.  Wicket takers for Swansea Civil Service were Aled Richards 5-33, Phil Owen 2-36, Matthew Griffiths 1-41, Ian Coates 1-38 and Ben Novis 1-20.

We are now 72 points behind Civil Service and 80 behind leaders Margam.  On Saturday we entertain 4th placed Llandeilo in the park with the second XI's meeting up in the Towy Valley.

The second XI went down by 37 runs to their Swansea Civil Service counterparts.  The home side batted first and were 122-8 from their 40 overs, but 'Foel were bowled out for 85.

17/7/2011 - Our promotion hopes received a body blow on Saturday as our 1st XI match away to Swansea 3rd XI was called off by the Swansea Council due to the wet condition of the ground.  With Margam and Swansea Civil Service both winning we are now 55 points behind Swansea C S and 61 behind Margam.

The second XI lost their match at home to Swansea 4th XI by 6 wickets.  Batting first Felinfoel scored 136 all out with Ieuan Williams top scoring with 28.  Mike Jones scored 20, David Nangalia, Anthony Griffiths and Sean Evans all scored 13, Tony Lewis 12 and Ieuan Petty 10.  For Swansea Sawlani took 3-12, O Evans 3-23 and Dan Evans 2-28.  In reply Eric Antunes scored 90no and Dominic Evans 25no as Swansea reached 138 - 4.  Cieron Thomas took 2-21 and David Nangalia 1-2.  A selection of photos from the game can be found here.

30/06/2011 - In a thrilling game at the Park on Saturday Felinfoel defeated table toppers Margam by 3 wickets with the winning runs coming off the final ball of the game.  Felinfoel skipper Archie Thomas won the toss and had no hesitation in putting the opposition in to bat.  Margam were bowled out for 178 in the final over with Luke O'Connor 35, Darren Moggridge 31, John Wellington 29, Greg Jones 20 all making notable contributions.  Stuart Parmenter took 4-35, Clive Harding 4-54 and Anthony Matthias 2-36.  In reply Stuart Parmenter 30, Gareth Smith 23, Nick Jones 12 and Rhys Harries 75no all helped get 'Foel to a victory which helped close the gap on the leaders.

23/06/2011 - Both teams defeated their Neath counterparts on Saturday.  At the park the 1st XI batted first and scored 184-7 thanks to 76 from Stuart Parmenter, 38 from Andrew Thomas, 26 from Gareth Smith (3 sixes) and 25 from Rhys James.  In reply Neath were bowled out for 63 with Mike Lewis 30 the only batsman to trouble the scorers.  The damage was done by Johnathan Evans 5-31, Anthony Matthias 3-28, Stuart Parmenter 1-0 and Clive Harding 1-2.  The win takes us to within 4 points of second placed Civil Service who play leaders Margam on Saturday.  Felinfoel travel up the Swansea Valley to take on Ystradgynlais, with the second XI's playing in the park.  The Ystrad 2nd XI top the table with several former first teamers in their line-up.

In Cwrt Herbert, Neath, the home side batted first and scored 100-9 from their 40 overs.  Ieuan Petty 3-10, Shaun Evans 3-16, Mike Jones 1-11, Anthony Griffiths 1-30 and C Griffiths 1-13 taking the wickets.  Felinfoel reached the target in the 31st over thanks to 27 from Ieuan Petty, 17no from Peter Harries and 14 from Anthony Griffiths.  It was pleasing to see two young girl cricketers in the Neath team, Hannah Lake and Bethan Wilkes.

12/06/2011 - The first XI won their home game against Llandarcy by 3 wickets yesterday.  'Foel skipper Andrew Thomas won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first.  Openers Nick Morgan and Ian Davies made a confident start, putting on 53 runs before Morgan had to leave the field after being hit in the face by a ball bowled by Craig Richards.  The first wicket fell with the score on 59 when a mix-up between the batsmen saw Davies run out for 23.  Ashley Simmons and Carl Owen took the score to 110 before Simmons became the first of three wickets for Clive Harding when he was bowled for 31.  Ten runs later and Owen followed when he was caught by Stuart Parmenter off Harding for 22.  Nick Morgan returned to the crease but he soon departed, caught by Anthony Matthias off Harding for 27 to make it 124-4.  Scott Barrow and Tom Pickford featured in a dangerous stand and it looked as if the home side could be chasing a large total.  Pickford was out with the score on 156 when he was caught behind by skipper Thomas off the bowling of Parmenter for 10.  From here on wickets fell at regular intervals and the Llandarcy innings closed on 177 all out in the 49th over.  Scott Barrow top scored with 34, and Jamie Evans chipped in with 10.  Craig Richards returned figures of 12-4-25-3, Clive Harding 5-2-16-3 and Stuart Parmenter 8-1-31-2.

In reply openers Rhys Harries and Stuart Parmenter put on 42 for the first wicket before Harries edged behind and was caught by Pickford off the bowling of Barrow for 29.  Parmenter was run out for 25 as the score moved to 76-2.  Rhys James was the next to go on 83, when he was bowled by skipper Nick Morgan for 7.  Craig Richards and Nick Jones featured in a stand of 50 before Richards, playing his last game for the club, was caught by Ian Davies off the bowling of Ryan Pickerell for 54.  From 133-3 'Foel slumped to 148-7 before Meirion Rees and Clive Harding steadied the ship and led the side to their 4th win of the season and 26 points. The win moves us to within five points of second placed Swansea Civil Service, who had a free date yesterday.  Leaders Margam 57 points ahead of us, but they have a free Saturday next week and then take on Civil Service in a fortnight and with the commencement of the second half of the season they travel to take us on in three weeks.

Craig Richards has requested a transfer to Pwll after receiving an offer he couldn't refuse.  The club wishes him well for the future.

The seconds match against their Llandarcy counterparts had been switched to today due to the unavailability of the Pontardawe ground, and fell victim to the weather.  The heavy rain which moved in overnight saw the game being cancelled mid morning.  Next weekend the first XI entertain Neath 3rd XI, with the 2nd XI travelling to take on Neath 4th XI at Cwrt Herbert.

05/06/2011 - It was a case of record breakers at the park on Saturday where Felinfoel 1st XI took on Kidwelly.  Winning the toss skipper Archie Thomas elected to bat.  Stuart Parmenter was out in the first over, bowled by Dean Hollands for 6.  Run machine Craig Richards failed for once, being bowled by Hollands for 17 to leave Felinfoel on 56-2.  This brought Rhys Harries and Rhys James together and they featured in an unbroken third wicket partnership of 292 as Felinfoel rattled up 346-2 declared in 36.3 overs. See the scorebook for the Felinfoel innings here.

Rhys Harries broke Craig Richards' club individual scoring record of 175, with 178 not out which came off 119 balls and featured 34 fours and 1 six.  Rhys James scored his maiden century with 105 not out off 81 balls, with 19 fours and 1 six.  Dean Hollands took 2-55 from 10 overs.  See the scorebook for the previous record here.

In reply Kidwelly were bowled out for 99 with Craig Richards claiming 4-27, Anthony Matthias 1-31, Johnathan Evans 1-17, Clive Harding 1-9 and Stuart Parmenter 1-11.  Felinfoel remain in third place 31 points behind second placed Swansea Civil Service, but with a game in hand.  Unbeaten Margam are 54 points clear of Felinfoel, but we have the game in hand over them as well.

The second XI defeated Kidwelly by four wickets on Saturday.  Nine man Kidwelly were bowled out for 86 with Steve Johns claiming 4-19, Corey Griffiths 3-1 and Mike Jones 1-24.  In reply Felinfoel were guided home with 48 not out from Rhys Jonesand 11 from Ieuan Petty.

29/05/2011 - It was mixed fortunes for the club on Saturday as the first XI came away from the Towy Valley with a 31 run victory.  Batting first Felinfoel were bowled out for 160 in the final over of their 50.  Craig Richards 48, Gareth Smith 44 and Clive Harding 38 getting the bulk of the runs.  The home side were cruising at 118-4, but once skipper Neil Harries was given out stumped off the bowling of Craig Richards for 39, they collapsed to 129 all out.  Richards was the star claiming 6-40 from 13.2 overs.  Johnathan Evans took 3-10 from 4 overs and Anthony Matthias 1-27 from 10 overs. The win takes Felinfoel up to third in the table behind unbeaten Margam and relegated Swansea Civil Service, who will be looking for a quick return to division three.

The second XI went down to a 7 wicket defeat to their Llandeilo counterparts at the park.  Batting first Felinfoel were bowled out for 78 with Ieuan Williams 16 and Steve Wilkins 19 the only batsmen to reach double figures.  In reply the visitors reached the target for the loss of 3 wickets - Steve Johns claimed 2-26 and Mike Jones 1-12.

22/05/2011 - Both the 1st and 2nd XI matches were abandoned due to the weather on Saturday.  At Sketty Lane the 1st XI lost the toss and were put in to bat by Swanssea Civil Service.  Stuart Parmenter departed early, but Rhys Harries and Craig Richards looked quite comfortable as they took the score to 70-1 before rain sent the players running for cover.  Tea was taken early, and when play resumed they took the score to 89-1 before a second stoppage for rain saw the game abandoned.

In the park Swansea Civil Service batted first and were 50-3 off 14 overs when the rain came.  Rhys Brown took 2-10 and Steve Wilkins 1-21.  On Saturday the first team are on their travels again as they travel up the Towy Valley to take on Llandeilo, with the second XI's meeting at the park.  They will be looking for improved weather as rain interfered with both matches against Llandeilo last season.

15/05/2011 - Following their weekend off last week Felinfoel returned to action on Saturday as they took on Swansea, one of the new entrants into the league.  The first XI met Swansea 3rd XI in the park and came away with maximum points as they won by 172 runs.  Winning the toss skipper Andrew Thomas elected to bat.  They made a disappointing start as Stuart Parmenter was bowled in the second over by Dominic Evans for 6 to leave the score 7-1, but this was to be their only loss as Rhys Harries 100no and Craig Richards 124no featured in an unbroken second wicket stand of 230 before skipper Thomas declared in the 34th over.  Some people around the ground seemed surprised at the declaration, but it proved to be the correct decision as the visitors were bowled out for 75 in the 22nd over.  Openers Anthony Matthias 5-19 and Clive Harding 2-11 reduced the visitors to 26-6.  It soon became 32-7 and 50-8, with Rhys James chipping in with 1-10.  A 9th wicket stand of 25 was broken by Neil Evans who ended the day with 2-0, before having to make a dash to Prince Philip Hospital, where his son Sean was waiting.

The second XI travelled to Underhill Park, Mumbles to take on Swansea 4th's and came away with a losing draw.  Chasing a total of 164-8 Felinfoel reached 124-7 with Meirion Rees 57no, Anthony Griffiths 35 and David Nangalia 17 making any impact against the Swansea attack.  Wicket takers for Felinfoel were Steve Wilkins 1-20, Steve Johns 2-43, Sean Evans 1-27, Mike Jones 2-22 and Manbir Singh 2-23.  The downside was an injury to Sean Evans which saw him depart for hospital - X Rays revealed a broken bone in his wrist which will mean a few weeks on the sidelines

01/05/2011 - The 2011 season started yesterday where the 2010 season had ended with the teams taking on Margam.  The 1st XI travelled to the picturesque Margam Park to take on the side who had ended 2010 one place above them in the table.  With several players still unavailable due to rugby and football commitments it was going to be a struggle as three 14 year olds Cieron Thomas, Ieuan Williams and Ieuan Petty made their 1st team debuts.  Making a welcome return to the side was Rhys James, who missed the whole of the 2010 season due to his pilot training in America.

The home side won the toss and had no hesitation in putting 'Foel in to bat and we struggled to 149-6 from our 50 overs with only Rhys James 77no making any notable contributions.  Acting skipper Rhys Harries scored 11, Clive Harding 12, Peter Harries 13 and debutant Anthony Matthias 14.  Anish Patel took 4-37 from 15 overs and Luke O'Connor 2-18 from 10 overs.  In reply Margam knocked off the runs for the loss of 4 wickets as they reached 150-4 in the 41st over.  Luke O'Connor top scored with 49no, Geraint Reynolds 21, Rhodri Reynolds 25, Darren Moggridge 29 and Gareth John 18no also chipped in.  Wicket takers were Rhys James 1-39 from 5 overs, Anthony Matthias 2-24 from 11 overs and Stuart Parmenter 1-40 from 15 overs.

Nine man second XI lost their home game at the Park by 51 runs.  Batting first Margam were bowled out for 152 thanks to the efforts of Manbir Singh 5-51, Steve Wilkins 2-40, Steve Johns 1-42 and C Griffiths 1-14.  In reply Meirion Rees 49 and David Nangalia 10 were the only batsmen to reach double figures as they slipped to 101 all out.

01/04/2011 - At the AGM back in December Swansea and Neath were allowed to enter their 3rd & 4th XI's into the league.  When the fixtures for the 2011 season were first published there were 11 teams in Division four which would mean some Sunday and Bank Holiday games, which clubs were unhappy about.  Meetings were held to try and find a solution to the problem and suggestions were put to the management committee.  Before any decision was made Hendy withdrew from the league and the fixtures were redone. Shortly after Winch Wen also withdrew from the league, leaving 9 clubs remaining and two free dates in the fixture list.

A very enjoyable awards dinner was held at the Harry Watkin, Felinfoel, recently and the trophy winners were:

Many thanks to Rowland & Linda Cross for their great food, hospitality, late night, and the hangovers!!

25/08/2010 - Congratulations to Cieron Thomas, a member of our Under 14's squad, who returned the excellent figures of 5 wickets for 7 runs in the recent 2nd XI match against Kidwelly at the park.  Even more remarkable than his bowling figures was his achievement of taking four wickets in four balls, with the last 3 all clean bowled.  The last time this was achieved in a match for Felinfoel the bowler was none other than former Glamorgan and England seamer Jeff Jones who achieved the feat in a first team game against Dyffryn around 30 years ago.  Well done Cieron.

21/08/2010 - All matches in the South Wales Cricket Association were cancelled today as the heavy rain of the last 3 days took it's toll on grounds across South Wales.

13/07/2010 - Felinfoel 1st XI were denied a win by the weather when they travelled to play Llandeilo on Saturday.  Leaving Felinfoel the rain was coming down heavily and throughout the journey the rain continued.  Part of the wicket was covered, so when the rain stopped it was agreed with the league umpire present that the match would commence at 2pm and be reduced to 45 overs.  Batting first 'Foel made a respectable 172-8 with Craig Richards top scoring with 65, Stuart Parmenter 52, Clive Harding 25 and Berian Watkins 10.  The home side suffered an early blow when skipper Neil Harries was caught by namesake Rhys Harries off the bowling of Clive Harding off the last ball of the first over for a duck.  Wickets fell frequently in between the rain showers and the home side were at one time 101-8 but recovered to 135-8 before yet another rain shower saw the players running for cover yet again and the eventual abandonment of the match as a draw.  On Saturday we travel to Crown Park to take on Hendy with Craig Richards looking to score the 28 runs which will take him through the 500 runs mark for the season.  He currently has four half centuries and a century to his name from seven innings.

At Felinfoel the second XI match between the two sides also ended in a draw.  Batting first 'Foel made 151 all out with Gareth Smith top scoring with 60 not out, with Wayne Williams 19, Peter Harries 17, Meirion Rees 15 and Nick Jones 10 all reaching double figures.  In reply the visitors were 131-7 at the close with veteran Geoff Evans top scoring with 58, aided by D Jones 16, B Singh 14 and G Lee 14.  There was some controversy during the 'Foel innings with the Llandeilo skipper kicking a ball over the boundary.  With Gareth Smith batting with Corey Griffiths, Smith was counting the balls and trying to keep the youngster away from the strike as much as possible, but in an effort to keep Smith away from the strike the ball was kicked over the boundary and in so doing Smith was awarded five runs.

05/07/2010 - Felinfoel won their second match of the season when they defeated visiting Ystradgynlais by 8 wickets at the park on Saturday.  Batting first the visitors were reduced to 196 all out with the wickets shared out between Craig Richards 9-0-51-3, Rohan Nangalia 7-1-23-2, Andrew Thomas 3.2-0-11-2, and Johnathan Evans 14-3-54-1.  Ystrad skipper Martin Griffiths chipped in with 59, Eddie King 34, 14 year old Luke Price 50no were the mainstay of the batting.

In reply Rhys Harries 87no (16 fours) and Craig Richards 64 (12 fours and a six) featured in a second wicket stand of 112 to set up the win, before skipper Andrew Thomas hit 24 off 16 balls with Harries hitting two consecutive fours to bring up victory and the 200 with 15 overs to spare.  Stuart Parmenter scored 17 in a first wicket partnership of 40.

The second XI lost to their Ystradgynlais counterparts by 97 runs - batting first the home side rattled up 195-7 from their 45 overs thanks to Liam Delaney 44, Adrian Griffiths 28, and Martin Donnelly 56no.  Steve Wilkins 1-49, Robert Nangalia 1-43, Shaun Evans 2-34, Jamie Evans 1-19 and Steve Johns 1-17 were the wicket takers.  In reply Peter Harries 13, Meirion Rees 28 and Steve Wilkins 21 were the only batsmen to get going as the 'Foel innings closed on 98 all out.  Martin Donnelly 3-20, Mark Thomas 3-19, Jack Donnelly 2-18 and Adrian Griffiths 2-33 doing the damage.

The first XI now hit the road with six of their last 8 matches away from home, and the travels start with a trip up to the Towy Valley to take on Llandeilo on Saturday, while the second XI's meet at the park.  The following week the first XI make the short trip to Crown Park, Seaside to take on Hendy.

28/06/2010 - Felinfoel crashed to a heavy 117 run defeat at the hands of visiting Margam at the park on Saturday.  The visitors won the toss and were bowled out for 250 off the final ball of the 50th over.  Brothers Rhodri 60 and Geraint Reynolds 55 were the mainstay of the batting assisted by 39 extras (20 wides!!) from some wayward bowling. Wicket takers were Craig Richards 7-0-43-4, Clive Harding 15-6-27-1, Rhys Brown 10.3-0-51-1, and Berian Watkins 5-0-35-3.  In reply 'Foel struggled against the pace of Anish Patel 15-5-42-5, and he was supported by Michael Bond 11-0-62-4 and Rhodri Reynolds 5.4-0-26-1.  Clive Harding 30, Rhys Brown 22, Rhys Harries 19, Andrew Thomas 17 and Craig Richards 15 all reached double figures but failed to press on as the innings closed on 133 all out.

Despite the best efforts of 13 year old Shaun Evans, the second XI lost to Margam by 39 runs on Saturday.  Batting first the home side were restricted to 150-9 from their 45 overs, with Evans returning the excellent figures of 9 overs 2 maidens 19 runs and six wickets.  Steve Wilkins took 2-29, Tony Lewis 1-20.  Ian Allsop top scored with 59, with D James 31 and Richard Gullam 21 the only other batsmen to reach double figures.  In reply 'Foel were all back in the pavilion for 111 with Peter Harries 23, Tony Lewis 12, Adrian Griffiths 11 and Wayne Williams 27 the only batsmen to make any inroads against the bowling of Steve Mann 5-32, Ian Allsop 2-13, T Manchipp 1-24, Richard Gullam 1-18 and C Robins 1-8.

20/06/2010 - With Rhys Harries away on holiday, and Craig Richards involved in a football tournament with the Llanelli Reds it was going to be a battle for Felinfoel to chase down the 226-10 posted by Dyffryn on Saturday.  Things were made worse when Stuart Parmenter was clean bowled off the first ball of the innings, but 51 from Rhys Brown, 16 from Clive Harding, 16 from Meirion Rees, 30 from Johnathan Evans, 27 from Andrew Thomas, 17 from Berian Watkins and 16 from Neil Evans had the home followers worried but the 'Foel batsmen ran out of steam and the innings closed on 193 all out and a 33 run defeat.  Wicket takers for Felinfoel were Rohan Nangalia 7-0-38-1, Johnathan Evans 15-5-48-2, Clive Harding 15-0-68-4, Berian Watkins 8-0-41-2, and Rhys Brown 3.1-0-41-2.  'Foel were congratulated by the home side for going for the runs despite losing wickets, and not shutting up shop.

In a low scoring game at the park Felinfoel were bowled out for 85 with Robert Nangalia 13, Wayne Williams 10, Jamie Evans 13 and Mike Jones 18 the only batsmen to reach double figures.  L Millard 2-21, A Spratt 2-30, L Day 5-14 were the wicket takers for Dyffryn.  In reply the visitors lost 5 wickets in reaching the target at 89-5 with Robert Nangalia taking 4-36 and Steve Wilkins 1-25.  R Morgan top scored with 28, A Robbins 13, P Hadley 11no and H Davies 14no.

13/06/2010 - Felinfoel rattled up 300-7 from their 50 overs against Winch Wen at the park on Saturday.  Skipper Andrew Thomas top scored with 94 not out from 73 balls with twelve fours and a six.  Craig Richards chipped in with 87 from 99 balls with fifteen fours and one six.  Winch Wen batted out for the draw from the off and closed on 135-6 from their 50 overs - this si the second time that 'Foel have scored over 300 and failed to bowl out the opposition as the captain used no fewer than 7 bowlers.  Wicket takers were Craig Richards 9-3-26-1, Clive Harding 8-4-12-1, Rohan Nangalia 8-1-28-1, Berian Watkins 9-4-26-1 and Rhys Harries 3-2-6-1.

The 2nd XI were left frustrated on one of the hottest afternoons of the summer so far when their match at Winch Wen was cancelled as the home side didn't have ateam.

06/06/2010 - There was some confusion at the park on Saturday as Kidwelly sent their 2nd XI to the park for a 1st XI fixture.  Originally the match was scheduled to be played at Kidwelly but due to the Felinfoel Carnival in August both clubs agreed to swap the fixtures round.  With the Kidwelly 1st XI deciding they did not want to swap over it was a complete mismatch with the Kidwelly team made up of a majority of players aged between 11 and 17, with only two aged over 18.  Batting first Kidwelly were 35 all out in the 18th over, with Rohan Nangalia claiming 7-16, Berian Watkins 2-1 and Johnathan Evans 1-18.  Dan Young top scored with 9, skipper Andrew Peebles and Aled Gilly both chipped in with 7 each.  In reply Felinfoel reached 39-0 in the 8th over with Stuart Parmenter on 14no and skipper Andrew Thomas 19no as the match ended before 3pm.

At Parc Stephens, Kidwelly our second XI rattled up 320-4 declared against what was supposed to be the Kidwelly 1st XI!!  Meirion Rees, fresh from playing his organ at a wedding in the morning, top scored with 104 no, assisted by Steve Wilkins 103 no, Mike Jones 30 and Rhys Brown 29.  In reply the home side were bowled out for 105 to give Felinfoel a win by 215 runs.  With Steve Bibby away on holiday Tony Lewis stood in as captain and claimed 4-24 with his bowling, with Steve Wilkins 2-29 and Mike Jones 1-29 the other wicket takers.

On Saturday the 1st XI are at home again when they entertain Winch Wen, who are just above us in the table.  The second XI's play each other at Heol Las Park, Birchgrove, Swansea. (Follow the signs for Birchgrove RFC)

29/05/2010 - Due to the wet weather the first XI match against Porthcawl at the park was cancelled mid morning with pools of water on the square.  Porthcawl wanted to travel but after making some further enquiries later decided that the secretary was a genuine person and they would accept his decision!!  Here is the proof

The second XI travelled to play their Porthcawl counterparts and went down to a heavy 9 wicket defeat.  Batting first Felinfoel scored 122 all out with Nick Bennett 34, Craig Richards 25, Wayne Williams 10, Anthony Griffiths 10 and Neil Evans 19 all reaching double figures.  In reply the home side reached 123 for the loss of just one wicket with 15 overs to spare.  Craig Richards with 1-21 the only wicket taker for 'Foel.

22/05/2010 - The first XI lost their match away to Llandysul by 4 wickets on Saturday.  The home side won the toss and put 'Foel in to bat - thanks to the efforts of Stuart Parmenter 34, Rhys Harries 29, Craig Richards 57, Clive Harding 12, Andrew Thomas 18, Berian Watkins 16 and Robert Nangalia 10 their innings closed on 205 all out in the final over of their 50.  In reply the home side were guided home by an excellent 116 not out by wicket keeper Llew Hughes with 9.3 overs to spare.  Berian Watkins 2-40, Craig Richards 2-32, Johnathan Evans 1-38 and Rohan Nangalia 1-45 were the wicket takers for 'Foel as Llandysul reached 209-6

At the park the second XI had the better of a drawn game.  Batting first

17/05/2010 - The 2009 top four play-off for the Midweek League which was postponed at the end of last season, and scheduled to be played at Llangennech yesterday was again cancelled due to the overnight rain.  A new date will have to be found.

17/05/2010 - Felinfoel's 19 year old all-rounder Craig Richards set a new individual scoring record of 175 in the match against Hendy at the park on Saturday.  His innings featured twenty two fours and six sixes and came off just 139 balls.  The previous record score of 166 was held by Phil Williams and had stood since 1995.

Felinfoel's total of 310-3 was also a new club record for matches played in the South Wales Cricket Association.  Richards featured in a second wicket stand of 157 with Stuart Parmenter 42, and a third wicket stand of 148 with Clive Harding 71no (from 35 balls 8 fours and 4 sixes).  Remarkably Hendy's Anthony Mathias returned excellent bowling figures of 15 overs 9 maidens 14 runs 0 wickets, as Felinfoel's score was 107-1 after 30 overs.  The previous record second wicket partnership (since 1993) was 131 scored by Lee Jenkins and Phil Holding on 16th July 1994, but Phil Williams and Richie Jenkins still hold on to the third wicket partnership of 217 set on the 20th May 1995.

Unfortunately the Felinfoel bowlers were unable to push for the victory as Hendy held out for the draw at 125-7 with Anthony Mathias top scoring with 41.  Sam Williams 14, Colin Rees 16 David Williams 13 were the only other batsmen to reach double figures. Mathias and David Williams frustrated the 'Foel bowlers putting on 63 runs in 25 overs for the 6th wicket  Johnathan Evans took 3-23, Rhys Harries 3-19 and Rohan Nangalia 1-35.  See the match scorecard for Craig Richards innings here.

17/05/2010 - The second XI defeated their Hendy counterparts by three wickets at Crown Park, Seaside on Saturday.  Hendy were bowled out for 121 with Steve Wilkins taking 4-33, Tony Lewis 3-27 and Mike Jones 2-39.  Meirion Rees 38, Neil Evans 26, Steve Bibby 23no and Tony Lewis 10 saw nine man Felinfoel home at 125-7.

10/05/2010 - The first XI lost their first match of the season when they went down to a heavy 126 run defeat at the hands of visiting Llandeilo at the park on Saturday.  Batting first Llandeilo were deep in trouble at 81-6 but ended up on 243-9 from 39.3 overs when rain forced the players off the field.  Llandeilo skipper N Harries scored 133 not out off 107 balls with 15 fours and three sixes.  Tea was taken early, before Llandeilo declared their innings closed with the match reduced to 46 overs a side. 'Foel were bowled out for 117 with Stuart Parmenter 21, Gareth Smith 15, Rhys Brown 22, and Berian Watkins 22 the only batsmen to reach double figures.  Had there been league umpires it is doubtful if the match would have been completed as conditions underfoot were not to their best after the rain.

The 2nd XI also lost to their Llandeilo counterparts, going down by 6 wickets.  Batting first Felinfoel were bowled out for 106 with only Steve Bibby 32, Steve Wilkins 37 and Tony Lewis 11 reaching double figures.  Llandeilo reached 107 for the loss of 4 wickets with the wickets shared out between Steve Wilkins, Tony Lewis, Steve Johns and Mike Jones.

03/05/2010 - The first XI match away to Ystradgynlais was called off at lunchtime on Saturday as the ground at Ystradgynlais was unfit after heavy rain.  The second XI got the season off to a good start with a 9 wicket win over their Ystradgynlais counterparts at the park.  Batting first the visitors were bowled out for 125 with Neil Evans claiming 6-34, Nick Bennett 1-8 and Andrew Thomas 2-3.  J Lewis top scored with 30, while J Harries 24, C Williams 21 and Huw Lewis 14 also reached double figures.  In reply Rhys Harries was bowled for a duck, but Nick Bennett marked his return to the club with an unbeaten 50 (9 fours) and Andrew Thomas scored an unbeaten 65 which included eleven fours.  On Saturday the first XI entertain Llandeilo at the park and they will be looking to get their season off to a good start against their bogey team.  The second XI make the journey up to the Towy Valley to take on their Llandeilo counterparts.  Wickets pitched in both matches at 1.30pm.

03/05/2010 - The South Wales Cricket Association want all matches uploaded onto the play-cricket website immediately after each match, so you will be able to find match scorecards on our play-cricket site here.

27/04/2010 - The 2010 league season starts on Saturday 1st May with the 1st XI making the trip up the Swansea Valley to take on Ystradgynlais, with the 2nd XI's meeting at the park.  Some rule changes introduced at the AGM mean that matches now start at 1.30pm this year, and the 2nd XI matches will be of 45 overs a side not 50 as in previous years.

26/04/2010 - The planned friendly against Pwll was cancelled at short notice as the Pwll ground was not ready after winter work had been carried out on the square.  We were able to arrange a friendly away to Swansea Civil Service instead, but disappointingly only eight players turned up to play and we were well beaten.

01/04/2010 - Indoor Nets will take place at the Leisure Centre on Sunday 11th and 18th April, from 6pm to 8pm.  There will be a friendly against Pwll, away, on Sunday 25th April 2010 with wickets pitched at 2pm.

A very enjoyable evening was had by all and our thanks go to Linda and Rowland Cross for their excellent hospitality.

01/03/2010 - With Ystalyfera withdrawing from division four of the South Wales Cricket Association it will mean that the division will now only have 10 teams again, meaning that the fixtures will have to be redrawn.  Thankfully this will mean that all our matches will now be on Saturdays with no need for Sunday and Bank Holiday fixtures as originally scheduled. It is always sad to see a club pulling out of the league, but the club will now play their cricket in the Swansea League on Saturdays.  We wish them well in their new venture.
