Felinfoel reached the target in the 40th over for the loss of just 1 wicket as Stuart Parmenter rounded off a great match with 48no, assisted by Rhys Jones 37 & Rhys Harries 17no in their 111-1. Landore's Paul Siberry bowled his 15 overs for just 15 runs.
The 2nd XI fixture away to Landore was cancelled due to the wet state of the Heol Las Park ground.
23/08/2014 - Oh well, 1st XI had a great win over Dyffryn today to move 15 points ahead of Great Western. Ball is now in our court and 14 points from next week's home game against Landore will secure promotion to division three for next season. Congratulations to Rhys Harries for his 107 today, and second wicket partnership of 158 with Stuart Parmenter who scored 73 in a Felinfoel total of 263-5 declared. Dyffryn were bowled out for 129 after being 82-2 with Stuart Parmenter 4-31, Johnathan Evans 4-44 and Anthony Mathias 1-15 doing the damage.
The 2nd XI had a losing draw against Dyffryn who scored 218-7 from their 40 overs with Steve Wilkins taking 4-57 & Tony Lewis 2-35. In reply Felinfoel held out for the draw on 124-9 from their 40 overs with Callum Jenkins top scoring with 18. Mike Adams scored 15, Glen Williams 13, Ceiron Thomas 11, Steve Bibby 11no & Meirion Rees 10.
Congratulations to our 2nd XI who have won the Division 4 2nd XI
Championship with two games to go. Despite only getting a
winning draw against Llandeilo today we got sufficient points to
secure the championship with two games to go. Dyffryn won,
batting second but did not get enough points to take the battle
into next week's match. As a result of rule changes the 2nd XI
will now play in division three
irrespective of how the 1st XI get on this season.
Llandeilo were walking to victory at 140-4 in the 46th over, but their innings closed on 150-8 after 51 overs with Stu Parmenter 4-27, Rhys Brown 2-36 & Tom Jones 1-32 taking the wickets, with Rhys Brown claiming the vital wicket of Dafydd Jones 68 with a great run out. Felinfoel took 13 points from the draw. The ball is now in our court to make it a double promotion celebration.
The 2nd XI batted first against Llandeilo and were restricted to 131-9 from their 40 overs with Anthony Griffiths top scoring with 45, and Meirion Rees 19, Ieuan Williams 17, & Wayne Williams 12no also reaching double figures. Llandeilo frustrated the Felinfoel push for victory closing on 106-7 from their 40 overs. Tom Curry 2-23, Tony Lewis 2-32, Steve Wilkins 2-14 & Ceiron Thomas 1-11 in the wickets.
09/08/2014 - Felinfoel 1st XI defeated local rivals Kidwelly by 8 wickets today. The home side were bowled out for 91 with the damage being done by Johnathan Evans 11-3-43-5, Anthony Matthias 10-3-38-2, Stu Parmenter 4.1.8-1 & Rhys Brown 3-2-1-2. We reached the target on 94-2 in the 19th over thanks to Stu Parmenter 16, Andrew Thomas 39no (7 x 4), Corey Griffiths 11 & Tom Jones 25no (3 x 4 & 2 x 6).
Despite the 2nd XI winning by 2 wickets over Kidwelly 2nds today our lead has been cut to 65 points with 3 games to go. We need 20 points from the last 3 games to make sure we win the Championship and gain promotion to division three!! Kidwelly batted first and scored 136-5 in 40 overs with Steve Wilkins taking 2-16, Tom Curry 2-22 & Steve Johns 1-40. Felinfoel toof 38 overs to reach the target and lost 8 wickets along the way ad Anthony Griffiths top scored with 37. Tom Curry chipped in with 34, Ieuan Williams 21 & Tony Lewis 10no.
As far as the 1st XI were concerned results did not go our way
as Great Western beat Neath 3rds by 3 runs and Llantwit hammered
Landore to gain 28 points each. We have now dropped down to
third with Great Western top and Llantwit 2nd. We have a game in
hand over Great Western but have now played the same number of
games as Llantwit. We are 42 points behind Great Western and 27
26/07/2014 - The least said about the 1st XI encounter against promotion rivals Llantwit Major Cavalliers the better. It was a case of a bad day at the office as the visitors batted first and posted a total of 226-7 after being 57-3 & 85-4. James Snelson scored 26, Julian Griffiths 28, Jimbo Thomas 56 (11x4), Gareth Hughes 60no, Ben Jenkins 23 & Edward Pickford 13no in a unbroken 8th wicket partnership of 30. Johnathan Evans took 1-60 from 10 overs, Anthony Matthias 2-56 from 15, Gareth Smith 3-51 from 15 and Rhys Brown 1-14. When Felinfoel batted things went from bad to worse as they slipped to 26-5 and were eventually all out for 84 with extras the top scorer with 25 & Gareth Smith the only batsman to reach double figures with 18. Sam Pickford took 2-23, Adrian Ashton 3-19, Ben Jenkins 1-0 from 6 overs, Julian Griffiths 3-17 and James Snelson 1-4 as the innings closed in the 41st over. Skipper Andrew Thomas scored 9 from 68 balls as he tried to hold out for a draw but once he was out the end result was inevitable. Thankfully Neath thirds did us a favour by defeating Landore, so we drop down to second in the table, a point above Llantwit but we have a bye next week and they have five matches remaining to our four. Great Western are 14 points clear at the top with 4 matches to play and if they remain in the top two then only one team will be promoted as they cannot go up in their first season in the league.
The 2nd XI defeated Llantwit by 7 wickets at Windmill Lane - the home side were bowled out in the 31st over for 113 with Matt Horgan taking 4-11, Tom Curry 2-36, Ceiron Thomas 1-30, Steve Johns 1-27, & Corey Griffiths 1-6. In the Felinfoel reply Nick Jones scored 47, Corey Griffiths 18, Glen Williams 11, Anthony Griffiths 17no (retired), Callum Jenkins 11no in the 114-3. The 2nd XI are now 76 points clear of second placed Dyffryn who have 5 games to play to our 4.
19/07/2014 - After the disappointment of last week the 1st XI bounced back to winning ways with a four wicket win over Neath 3rds at Cwrt Herbert in Neath. Skipper Andrew Thomas won the toss and asked Neath to bat first and thanks to some excellent bowling from Gareth Smith, opening instead of the unavailable Anthony Matthias, they were soon in deep trouble at 48-5. Any hopes of an early finish were soon put to the back of the minds of the 'Foel players as Liam Davies 29, Josh Griffiths 33, Huw Davies 35 off 38 balls (3x4 3x6) & Andrew Shaddick 47no off 35 balls (6x4 1x6) ensured Neath posted a challenging target of 176-8. Gareth Smith took 4-34 from 15 overs, Stuart Parmenter 3-54 from 12 overs & Andrew Thomas 1-39 from 8 overs. A hungover Johnathan Evans bowled 15 overs for 37 runs, but failed to take a wicket. Victory was sealed in the 37th over thanks to some superb batting from Scott Davies 70no from 52 balls (8x4 4x6) supported by Rhys Harries 42 off 54 balls (9x4), Stuart Parmenter 16, & Corey Griffiths 12.
There was a thrilling encounter at the park as the second XI defeated Neath 4th XI by four wickets, but with just one ball to spare. The visitors batted first and posted a total of 171-8 from their 40 overs thanks to 37 from J Millard, 24 from Craig Penfold, 34 from Rhys Mowbray and 15no from Rhys Wilkes. Ceiron Thomas took 3-40, Steve Johns 1-19 and Anthony Griffiths 3-49. In reply Clive Harding scored a quickfire 66 before retiring to attend his daughter's 21st birthday celebrations. Meirion Rees 15, Anthony Griffiths 14, Ieuan Williams 11, Wayne Williams 25, Steve Johns 11 all chipped in but tensions were increasing as the overs slowly slipped by. Going into the final over 6 runs were needed with Ceiron Thomas & the evergreen Tony Lewis at the crease. Four singles came off the first four balls, so two required from 2 balls, but Tony Lewis ensured the win by hitting the 5th ball for two as he ended on 6no & Ceiron 11no.
12/07/2014 - The 1st XI suffered their first defeat of the season when they travelled to Newbridge Fields in Bridgend to take on league newcomers Great Western Railway. On a day where showers were always a threat the home side won the toss and asked Felinfoel to bat first and we were only able to post a score of 151 all out from our allocated overs which were reduced to 48 overs due to rain. Stuart Parmenter scored 45, Clive Harding 20, skipper Andrew Thomas 18, Corey Griffiths 18, with Scott Davies, Rhys Harries, Tom Jones, and Johnathan Evans all scoring 10. Further rain stoppages saw the Great Western innings reduced to 38 but this didn't prove a problem as they reached the target of 152 in the 34th over for the loss of 4 wickets as their skipper Phil Cadogan scored 62no from 50 balls (7x4 & 2x6) and he was supported by K Hibbert with 33 off 30 balls (3x4 & 2x6). When batting Felinfoel only scored 45 runs between the 20th & 42nd overs which put undue pressure on the batsmen in the last few overs. Thankfully not much damage was done to our promotion hopes as Dyffryn defeated Landore by 5 wickets.
The 2nd XI continued their promotion push as they defeated their Great Western counterparts by 5 wickets at the park. The game was delayed due to rain and the match was reduced to 35 overs a side. Batting first the visitors scored 129-9 with D Chilvers top scoring with 62 and S Adams shipping in with 26. The damage was done by Anthony Griffiths3-3, Tony Lewis 3-26, Steve Johns 2-40, & Tom Curry 1-37. Felinfoel reached the target in the 34th over thanks to Meirion Rees 22, Glen Williams 35, Callum Jenkins 35no, Ieuan Williams 13 & Wayne Williams 14no.
05/07/2014 - Both teams had convincing wins over their Llandarcy counterparts on Saturday and with other results going their way the 1st XI return to the top of the table, while the 2nd XI march on at the top of theirs. At the park Llandarcy won the toss and asked the home side to bat first and thanks to the efforts of Rhys Harries 84no, Gareth Smith 51no (29 balls 5x4 and 3x6), Andrew Thomas 45, Tom Jones 31, Stuart Parmenter 17, & Scott Davies 10 they amassed 257-4 declared from 44 overs. In reply Llandarcy were bowled out for 55 with only Paul Barrow 19 & Gareth Richards 10 reaching double figures. The damage was done by Stuart Parmenter 4-19, Anthony Mathias 2-15, Johnathan Evans 2-17 & Rhys Brown 2-2 in a fine 202 run win. Saturday sees the 1st XI travelling to Newbridge Fields, Bridgend to take on newcomers Great Western. The match between the two sides at Felinfoel earlier in the season was cancelled due to the wet weather. This will be a big game for us as we try to maintain our unbeaten run & push for promotion to division three. Surprise result of the day was local rivals Kidwelly Town's win over table toppers Llantwit Major, a result that put us back on top of the table by 12 points from Llantwit Major, 15 ahead of Landore & 29 ahead of Great Western.
The 2nd XI batted first at Pontardawe Park and like the 1st XI were able to declare their innings on 218-3 off 31 overs. Corey Griffiths scored his maiden century as he retired on 108no, hitting 21 fours in the process. Mark Thomas chipped in with 33 in a 1st wicket partnership of 88, while Ieuan Williams scored 53 and Callum Jenkins 15no. In reply 9 man Llandarcy were bowled out for 74 in 20 overs with Steve Wilkins taking 5-32, Ceiron Thomas 1-38 & Tom Curry 2-4 in a 144 run victory. The 2nd XI are now 42 points ahead of 2nd placed Dyffryn who have a game in hand.
28/06/2014 - The 1st XI travelled to Heol Las Park, Birchgrove to take on a Landore side who were relegated due to a technicality in 2013 and it was to prove to be our hardest match so far. Skipper Andrew Thomas won the toss and asked the home side to bat first and in between the showers they posted 181-3 in a match reduced to 43 overs. Openers Kevin Davies 53 & David Burrows 80 put on 129 for the first wicket. Jay Copp hit 12 before he was out with the score on 147, and Burrows was the 3rd wicket to fall with the score on 158. Andrew Mumford 12no & Phil Barber 13no took the score to 181 before another heavy shower saw the players leave the field again and as time ran out the innings closed. Johnathan Evans took 1-44 from 10 overs, Stuart Parmenter 1-45 fom 12 overs & Tom Jones 1-28 from 6 overs while Anthony Mathias only conceded 23 runs from his 12 overs.
Felinfoel made the worst possible start to their innings as Andrew Mumford clean bowled Stuart Parmenter & Rhys Harries with the 2nd & 4th ball of the first over to leave the score 0-2 at the end of the first over. Scott Davies 24, Tom Jones 33, Robert Bowen 17 took Felinfoel to 82-6 in the 23rd over which was up to the required run rate but despite Clive Harding hitting 28 skipper Andrew Thomas decided to shut up shop and prevent the home side getting the win. Thomas ended up on 18no from 79 balls. It was a nervous end as Andrew Mumford came back into the attack and claimed the wickets of Johnathan Evans & Matt Horgan in the 42nd over, both clean bowled. Anthony Mathias & skipper Thomas batted out the final over as the Felinfoel innings closed on 139-9. Andrew Mumford returned figures of 14-2-67-6, Paul Sibery 14-4-22-2 & Jay Copp 9-3-31-1. The result saw the side drop down to 2nd in the table at the halfway stage of the season. Next week the 1st XI entertain Llandarcy at the Park with the 2nd XI's meeting in Pontardawe Park.
The 2nd XI entertained relegated Landore at the park and came away with a 9 wicket win. The visitors batted first and were bowled out for 117 with Ciaran Thomas 2-18, Tom Curry 3-33, Rhys Brown 4-29 doing the damage with the ball. Mark Thomas 50no, Mike Adams 25 & Callum Jenkins 32no ensured it was another comfortable win as the winning runs came up in the 29th over. An interesting stat - Kim Norkitt who played for Landore played for Glamorgan 2nd XI and featured in a 40 over John Player league game for the 1st XI against Hampshire in 1974. The win keeps the side at the top of the table as we reached the halfway point in the season.
21/06/2014 - The 1st XI travelled to take on relegated Dyffryn and game away with a convincing 8 wicket win. Skipper Andrew Thomas won the toss and asked the home side to bat first. Dyffryn openers Rhys Davies & Darren Wood made slow progress against the 'Foel opening attack of Johnathan Evans & Anthony Mathias and took the score to 38 before Davies was out for 12. Wickets then began falling at regular intervals, and when both bowlers completed their 15 overs each the score was 66-7 with Wood 23 the only other batsman to reach double figures. Evans figures were 15-4-27-4 and Mathias 15-5-31-3. Stuart Parmenter and Gareth Smith were brought into the attack and they didn't take long in ending the Dyffryn innings on 77 all out. Smith took 2-6 and Parmenter 1-5.
Felinfoel knocked off the required runs in just 15 overs as Stuart Parmenter 23no and Rhys Harries 42 took Felinfoel to 81-2 with Scott Thomas 1-39 and Huw Jones 1-11 the wicket takers. For the third time this season Felinfoel's bowlers had denied the batsmen the opportunity to pick up some batting points as changes made by the SWCA Management Committee mean batting points are picked up on reaching 100, 125, 150, 175 & 200 in the 1st XI matches this year.
The 2nd XI also had a 8 wicket win over their Dyffryn counterparts at the park. Batting first the visitors were bowled out for 113 with Ciaran Thomas 3-41, Steve Johns 2-19, Steve Wilkins 1-30, Tom Curry 1-15 & Corey Griffiths 1-5 doing the damage. Kyle Green top scored with 47, with Dan Daley 12 & Anees Khan 12 the only other batsmen to reach double figures. Corey Griffiths 35no (6x4), Glen Williams 43 (9x4) & Callum Jenkins 22no (4x4 & 1x6)
14/06/2014 - Felinfoel 1st XI moved to the top of the table with a 58 run victory over visiting Llandeilo at the park. The visiting skipper Neil Harries won the toss and asked Felinfoel to bat first. Opener Scott Davies departed for 9 with the score on 24, but Stuart Parmenter & Rhys Harries took the score to 72 before a collapse saw the score slump to 97-7 as the introduction of young bowlers Caradog Davies and Steffan Roberts caused havoc in the middle order. Gareth Smith & Clive Harding put on 22 for the 8th wicket to take the score to 119-8 but the game changer was the 9th wicket stand of 56 between Harding & Johnathan Evans which took the score to 175-9 with Evans scoring 24 from 53 balls. The 'Foel innings closed on 191-9 with Harding 48no from 54 balls in his first innings since returning from his knee injury which kept him out for all of the 2013 season. Caradog Daies took 5-14 from 10 oers, Steffan Roberts 2-43, Anthony James 1-41 and Neil Harries 1-20.
In reply Llandeilo got off to a good start with openers David Gascoyne & Rhydian Thomas putting on 59 for the first wicket. The score moved on to 75-1 before a similar collapse to that in the Felinfoel innings took the score to 83-4. Cai Davies & Ian Jones took the score to 111 before the 5th wicket fell but from then on wickets fell regularly and the innings closed on 133 all out in the 44th over as Felinfoel made it four wins from 4 starts this year.
At Cae William in Llandeilo it was another easy win for the 2nd XI as the home side survived 30 overs but were bowled out for 29 with the damage being done by Steve Johns who took 7-6 from 10 overs. Ceiron Thomas took 1-2 and Rhys Brown 2-13.Mark Thomas 12no & Corey Griffiths 18no brought up the victory in the 11th over as Felinfoel moved joint top with next week's opponents Dyffryn.
07/06/2014 - Both teams came away with wins against local rivals Kidwelly. At Parc Stephens in Kidwelly the home side won the toss and decided to bat first, and it was a decision they were soon to regret as they were soon 2-2 with openers Ben & Dan Pritchard back in the pavilion. Wickets fell at regular intervals and they were all out for 67 with Kyle Griffiths top scoring with 17 and Nasir Shaikh 15 the only other batsman to reach double figures. Johnathan Evans took 5-23, Anthony Mathias 3-20, Stuart Parmenter 1-13 and Robert Bowen 1-5. Felinfoel reached the target in the 14th over with Stuart Parmenter again not out on 24, Scott Davies 22 and Tom Jones 22no. Skipper Andrew Thomas was out for a duck
In Felinfoel the home side batted first and made 169-8 from their 40 overs with Callum Jenkins hitting 53no, Anthony Griffiths 28, Glen Williams 23, and Steve Wilkins 20 as M Roberts took 4-29, G Elks 3-34 and I Berry 1-48. In reply the isitors were blown away as Steve Wilkins took 6-16 (a year to the day he suffering a heart attack) and Ceiron Thomas 4-12 bowled them out for 18 in the 14th over.
31/05/2014 - There were no matches this weekend as it was our turn for the bye. Our hopes for another wet weekend didn't materialise as all other matches went ahead as planned.
24/05/2014 - Thanks to heavy overnight rain both matches against Llantwit Major were cancelled with both teams getting 4 points each.
17/05/2014 - In a thrilling game against Neath 3rd XI at the park on Saturday the 1st XI came away with a win by 12 runs. The visitors won the toss and elected to bowl first and with Felinfoel posting a total of 233-7 from their 50 overs it looked the wrong decision. Stuart Parmenter top scored with 80no, with Rhys Harries 44, Gareth Smith 23, Scott Davies 22, Andrew Thomas 22 and Tom Jones 16 all making notable contributions. Neath's Chris Williams took 2-36, Gavin John 1-34, Josh Griffiths 1-49 & Liam Davies 1-44. In reply Neath made a great job of chasing down the runs thanks to some great batting from 14 year old Liam Daies with 68, Huw Davies 40, Gain John 30 & Chris Williams 30. Johnathan Evans 4-51, Stu Parmenter 1-29, Gareth Smith 2-27 & Tom Jones 2-33 took the wickets, with Rhys Harries contributing with a vital run out near the end of the game.
The 2nd XI travelled to Neath to take on their 4th XI at Cwrt Herbert. Batting first Felinfoel made 240-9 from their 40 overs with openers Mark Thomas61 and Corey Griffiths 88 putting on 156 for the 1st wicket. Anthony Griffiths 26, Callum Jenkins 16no, Glen Williams 13 & Ieuan Williams 10 all chipped in. For Neath R Thomas took 7-59 and C O'Grady 2-21. In reply the home side made no effort to go for the runs, happily closing on 96-5 from their 40 overs as Ceiron Thomas 2-21, Wayne Williams 2-2 and Anthony Griffiths 1-17 took the wickets in a winning draw.
10/05/2014 - Both matches against League newcomers Great Western CC from Bridgend were cancelled due to the heavy rain giving each team 4 points each.
07/05/2014 - A good crowd turned up at Llanelli Parish Church today as we said farewell to our Patron Norman Charles. A past Secretary & Assistant Secretary of the South Wales Cricket Association Norman became a faithful follower of the club after his retirement in 1992. He umpired for the 2nd XI for a few years before illness prevented him from doing it anymore. He then became a regular follower of the 1st XI at home & away. In recent years he has supported the club financially too, and he will be sadly missed
03/05/2014 - Both teams observed a minutes silence in memory of our Patron Norman Charles at their games against Llandarcy on Saturday. Both the 1st & 2nd XI's opened the season with victories. At Pontardawe Park Llandarcy won the toss and elected to bat, a decision that was to prove fatal as they were soon in trouble at 43-6 against the opening attack of Johnathan Evans & Steve Johns and Stuart Parmenter. Father & son Carl & Ben Owen put on 36 runs for the 7th wicket, but the innings closed on 93 all out. Carl Owen top scored with 41, Ben Owen 17 & Paul Barrow 15. Johnathan Evans took 3-30, Steve Johns 2-19, Stu Parmenter 2-14 and Clive Harding playing his first match since 2012 took 1-13. Stu Parmenter 35no, Andrew Thomas 21, Rhys Harries 16, Scott Daies 8 and Tom Jones 5no saw 'Foel to victory in the 28th over. Changes to the rules for this season means that with teams having to score 100 runs before getting the first batting bonus point, and the committee removing the rule which allowed teams to get extra batting bonus points for wickets in hand after bowling teams out cheaply it meant we only picked up 21 points for the win.
At Felinfoel the 2nd XI bowled out a depleted Llandarcy for 88 in 28 overs with Tommy Pickford top scoring with 47. Paul Hudson 2-17, Corey Griffiths 2-23 and Tony Lewis 2-15 doing the damage. Victory came in the 25th over as Felinfoel made 93 for the loss of just 3 wickets thanks to Corey Griffiths 36no & Meirion Rees 27no.
01/05/2014 - Norman Charles' funeral will take place at Llanelli Parish Church at 1pm on Wednesday 7th May 2014, followed by cremation in Narberth at 3.30pm.
25/04/2014 - It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of our Patron Norman Charles, after a short illness. Norman was a great supporter of the club at home and away, and trips to away matches will never be the same again. His stories kept everyone laughing along the journeys. Norman served the South Wales Cricket Association as the Secretary, Assistant Secretary & Umpires Administrator and was made a Life-Member of the League on his retirement as Secretary in 1992. A great servant to the game, he will be sadly missed - we extend our deepest sympathy to all his family & friends at this sad time. RIP Norman Charles. Funeral details will be posted as soon as we know them.
25/04/2014 - There will be outdoor nets in the park on Sunday morning. If you can't attend let Brian Edwards, Clive Harding, "Archie" Thomas or Ants Griff know if you are available for the first game of the season on Saturday 3rd May - 1st XI away to Llandarcy & 2nd XI home to Llandarcy. Let's make this a great season on the field, and if we can gain promotion we can dedicate it to Norman!!
30/03/2014 - Nets in the leisure Centre on Sunday morning 9.30am - 10.45am £3 each. Clocks go on Saturday night so an hour less in bed-don't be late!!
30/03/2014 - Scorecards to the 175 scored by Craig Richards against Hendy in 2010, the 178 scored by Rhys Harries against Kidwelly in 2011, and the 184 against the same opposition in 2012 have now been added to the site. Just click the links to see them. These scores beat the previous best of 166 by Phil "Trump" Williams against Clydach 1st XI in 1995. The best bowling for the 1st XI is still the 8-17 by Tony Lewis against Bronwydd in 1999, although Steve Johns took 8-5 for the 2nd XI against Llandeilo last year.
27/03/2014 - The 2014 league season begins on Saturday 3rd May with the 1st XI making the trip to Pontardawe Park to take on Llandarcy, while the 2nd XI open their campaign with a home game against the same opponents in the park. Changes to the league rules mean that if the 2nd XI can repeat their Championship win of 2013 they will be able to be promoted irrespective of where the 1st XI finish in their league table. Previously league rules were such that if the 2nd XI won the Championship but the 1st XI ended up in the bottom two then both clubs would be relegated.
24/03/2014 - Everyone at the club extends our best wishes for a speedy recovery to our Patron & Vice-Chairman Norman Charles who is a patient in Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen.
20/03/2014 - The club was today saddened by the news of the sudden death of Keith "Dougie" Jones, a stalwart of Felinfoel Rugby Club. Our deepest sympathies are extended to his family and friends. His funeral takes place at Llanelli Crematorium on Friday 4th April at 3.30pm.
02/03/2014 - At the recent presentation evening held in the Harry Watkin awards were made to:
Brian Edwards, Clubman of the Year, Clive Harding, Chairman's Trophy,
Steve Johns, 2nd XI Player of the Year & Tom Jones, 1st XI Player of the Year
06/01/2014 - The club were saddened to hear the news of the death of Ray Williams, one of our former players. Ray was a great rugby player for Felinfoel, and Llanelli and he played for Wales on three occasions between 1954 & 1958. Our deepest sympathies are extended to his family & friends.
01/01/2014 - A Happy New Year to one and all. At the AGM last month Great Western Cricket Club were admitted into Division four for the coming season. As a result the fixtures released in October have had to be redone, and due to there being nine teams in the division it now means that we have two free Saturdays. The first XI open the season with an away match at Pontardawe Park against Llandarcy on Saturday 3rd May.
